Ever since I was young, I have been keenly interested in what lay beyond the surface of everyday life.  It always seemed like there must be something more - a mystery to be discovered or curiosities to be pondered.  I feel that I'm constantly on the threshold between the familiar and the unfamiliar, with a flickering sense of the supernatural.

My life got steered towards a business career when I was in high school, even though I took several art classes and enjoyed them.  Later, in my early thirties, I went to see the Richard Diebenkorn retrospective in San Francisco, and there entered the gallery with his Ocean Park Series, which was created at Venice Beach in L.A.  Having grown up in a beach town in Southern California, I sensed that, while the paintings didn't look like the beach, they certainly felt like the beach.  After that I had to know how to express myself through art...and so started my creative journey.
