Mundane Ecstasy

Mundane Ecstasy

Southern California beaches and I go way back.  My parents moved to a small town north of San Diego, when I was two.  I almost drowned twice before the age of five.  I got to ride on a thorough-bred race horse, on the beach next to the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  I met the boy, who gave me my first kiss, at the beach.  In my later teens, I would hang out listening to the waves, body surfing, and meditating on bible scriptures, which opened up a whole unseen world to me.  I've long since stopped going to church, but that hasn't prevented me from having days, when I see God in everyone and everything.  A beach sunset is mundane because it's available to anyone in the vicinity.  It's ecstasy, because it's usually so spectacular.
